31st Board Meeting of Rourkela Smart City, Strong Push for Urban Transformation in Rourkela

Bhubaneswar : The 31st Board Meeting of Rourkela Smart City Limited was convened yesterday under the chairmanship of Development Commissioner–cum–Additional Chief Secretary Smt. Anu Garg.

The meeting saw the participation of Smt. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department; Dr. Subhankar Mohapatra, Collector of Sundargarh; and Smt. Dheenah Dastageer, CEO of Rourkela Smart City Limited.

During the session, the Board assessed the status of various ongoing projects, identified key operational challenges, and explored strategies for strengthening maintenance systems and improving revenue streams. Several important updates were shared across different development components.

A major focus area was the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC). The Board instructed BEL to expedite its work and ensure the project’s speedy completion. For the ‘rOURkela One’ initiative, the review highlighted notable progress—especially in the construction of the City Command Centre (CCC) building and the Tribal Museum structure.

Detailed deliberations were held on the Tribal Museum’s soft components, including content creation, Tribal Hut replicas, artifact curation, and shrine craft installations. The Board also reviewed progress on other flagship interventions such as the Big Recreation Park and the Vedvyas Heritage Development project.

Overall, the meeting reaffirmed the mission of Rourkela Smart City to drive sustainable urban growth and elevate the living standards of citizens through focused infrastructure and cultural development.
