Historic Glory for India: Women’s Blind Team Lifts Inaugural T20 World Cup Title After Defeating Nepal

Colombo : India scripted a historic achievement by lifting the inaugural Women’s Blind T20 World Cup after outclassing Nepal by seven wickets in the final at Colombo. The Indian side delivered a clinical performance throughout the tournament and sealed the title with authority, marking a milestone for blind women’s cricket.

Opting to bowl after winning the toss, India kept Nepal in check, restricting them to 114 for 5 in their 20 overs. The chase proved one-sided as the Indian batters showcased composure and confidence, reaching the target in just 12.1 overs with 47 deliveries remaining. Khula Sharir emerged as the star of the final, scoring a brisk 44 off 27 balls, including four boundaries, to guide India comfortably to victory.

This triumph came close on the heels of another major success for Indian women’s cricket, with the team recently defeating South Africa in Navi Mumbai, underlining the rapid rise and growing influence of women’s cricket across both mainstream and visually impaired formats.

India’s path to the final was equally impressive. In the semi-final, they registered a commanding nine-wicket win over Australia, while Nepal earned their spot in the title clash after edging past Pakistan in a close contest. The tournament featured six teams — India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia and the USA — and began in New Delhi on November 11. Following league matches in Bengaluru, the knockout stages were held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

India’s flawless campaign not only showcased their dominance and consistency but also signalled a new era for blind cricket, paving the way for wider recognition and future growth of the sport on the global stage.
