DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania Reviews Security, Anti-Naxal and Anti-Ganja Operations in Boudh, Kandhamal and Ganjam

Cuttack: State Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania undertook a two-day tour of Boudh, Kandhamal and Ganjam districts, during which he held detailed discussions with senior police officials on key security and law enforcement issues.

The DGP reviewed the overall law and order situation, measures to tackle Maoist activities, steps to curb ganja cultivation and trafficking, and the formulation of focused strategies to deal with criminal and extremist elements in the region.

On Friday, Shri Khurania visited Boudh district, where he assessed the prevailing security scenario and engaged with officers on strengthening operational preparedness. The following morning, he arrived in Kandhamal district and inspected the COB camp and the CRPF camp at Penamal. He interacted with personnel of the SOG and DVF, exchanging views on ground-level challenges and operational requirements.

Emphasising zero tolerance towards extremism and illegal drug cultivation, the DGP urged officials to make the districts free from Naxal influence and ganja production. He appreciated the proactive efforts of local police in countering Maoist activities in the past and called for further intensification of operations in the days ahead. He directed senior officers to draft a comprehensive action plan to address the Naxal menace and to identify and eradicate all areas used for ganja cultivation, along with a concrete blueprint to curb its smuggling.

Later, Shri Khurania visited Bhanjanagar subdivision in Ganjam district, where he reviewed the local law and order position and advised officers to adopt effective measures to reduce crime and maintain public peace.

The DGP was accompanied by Additional Director General of Security (Anti-Naxal Operations) Sanjeev Panda, IG (South) Nitish Shekhar, IG (Operations) Dr Deepak Kumar, SP (Rayagada) Swathi S. Kumar, SP (Kandhamal) Harish B.C., Ganjam SP Subhendu Patra, along with senior officials from BSF and CRPF.
