
The Commissionerate Police has released a new directive imposing strict no-parking rules on several major roads across Bhubaneswar to improve traffic movement and enhance public safety.
Commissioner of Police Dr. S. Dev Datta Singh, IPS, issued the notification under Sections 28 and 29 of the Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003, along with the provisions of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate (Traffic & Public Order) Regulation, 2008, and Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
According to the order, careless and random parking of vehicles is causing serious traffic bottlenecks, inconvenience to daily commuters, and risks to road users. To address these issues, parking has been banned on the following routes:

Raj Bhawan Square to Kalarahanga Chhak via Jaydev Vihar
Airport to NALCO Chhak via Acharya Vihar
Sishubhawan Chhak to Vanivihar through Rajmahal Square and Master Canteen Square
Rasulgarh Chhak to Jaydev Vihar
Sriya Chhak to PHD Office
Bapuji Nagar
IDBI Bank Square to Veterinary College, NH-16 via Empire Hotel
Alok Bharati Building to Saheed Nagar Durga Puja Mandap at Janpath
Janpath stretch from Kalyan Jewellers to Charak Medical Store via Sparsh Hospital
Trupti Service Station, Janpath, to Saheed Nagar Entry Point

⚖️ Penalties & Enforcement
Those violating the no-parking restrictions will face action under Section 177 of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019, and Section 223(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Any vehicle obstructing traffic may also be lifted under Section 127 of the MV Act, 1988, with the owner liable for towing charges and fines.
The order takes effect immediately from the day it is issued.
